Russia Ukraine effect on WTO

Fights with Russia and Ukraine have obviously been devastating for the people of these countries and surrounding countries. Since Russia is a powerful country and other countries are backing Ukraine it is making it very difficult for Russia to obtain some goods in the global market. Since countries are not wanting to participate in the trade because of war this is causing going to cause effects that the WTO wants to avoid. Some of these effects are very dangerous. One of which would involve production shock after natural disasters. This one is pretty self-explanatory, This involves the country's bounce back after a natural disaster. If a country isn’t participating in global trade, and their factories/sources of food or products are destroyed, it will take a significant amount of time in order to repair the damages that were sustained in these disasters. Currently, if a country undergoes a natural disaster, it can easily trade with other countries in order to repair the damages they received in a much faster and quicker manner. The same thing goes with fatal diseases. A prime example of this would be Covid-19, if countries aren’t participating in global trade these diseases are going to be much more deadly due to the fact of creating medicine in time. Not only creating the medicine but also sharing the medicine would be another issue that would be encountered. The WTO is also worried about a barricade that is being put up with countries starting to shy away from global trade. Some of the barriers that are being put up are preventing the fix of climate change and the stabilization of global food. The reason global trade is a key to fixing these issues is that one country can’t fix all these problems. Although it wouldn’t be impossible to stabilize the global food situation without global trade it is nearly impossible due to the fact that countries are very much struggling to stay on their feet. Not only this, some countries don’t have as good of land in order to farm and supply themselves with their own food. Then touching on climate change, this will be extraordinarily difficult because if there isn’t global trade, countries won’t be able to be on track with each other to know what they are adjusting to. Not only that, the countries may not be able to get the supplies they need in order to run off of clean energy. So some countries might still be burning these bad energies in order to just stay running. So, without global trade, countries won’t be able to fix the new rules of fixing climate change. The final problem that has arisen from this war is that the fertilization market has been badly disrupter. However, these are the main problems that have occurred with the war. There are definitely more problems that haven’t been shown because they haven’t had as much an impact yet, but if things continue there will sure be more problems that are coming out.
